Many of us can only imagine what the masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance looks like in person.

The Blanton Museum is giving that chance to all of us with the showing of “Head of an Angel” altarpiece from Paolo Veronese.

This is a piece that was famous for being cut up and sold in pieces to private homes. It looks amazing and only here until February.

Open your world. Open your mind. Check out some of the masterpieces that resides at both phases of the Blanton Museum.

News Flash: 5 weeks of school left

The title pretty much sums up this news flash. For UT students, there are only FIVE weeks left til Christmas (or Winter) break. Wahoo.

In even more exciting news, for those of us without finals, we have December 5- January 19 off. In almost as exciting news, those with finals have December 15- January 19 off.

Whoooo.

Criminal Mischief: An unknown subject(s) hoisted an unknown number of pumpkins over the retaining wall located on the east side of the 2nd floor patio of the building. Gravity took control of the pumpkins and caused them to plummet to the parking lot below. Gourd debris removal cost: $20.00. Discovered on 10/31/09 at 9:04 AM.

For a good time, I highly recommend visiting http://www.austinchronicle.com/. The articles are all fine and dandy and whatnot but for a real kick go to the shot in the dark sections and personal ads- even if you’re not “looking”, I guarantee you will get a good laugh out of reading them. (The population of bookpeople and my mildly concerned companion [also a sweet austiny place] can attest to my amusement at those last three pages of my favorite free newspaper)

LBJ FOUNTAIN AND OVERLOOK, 2300 Block Robert Dedman

Graffiti: A UT student discovered words and letters spray painted in red, white and maroon colors. During the investigation, UT police officers discovered addition areas near the fountain that had also received a polite reminder to all of the UT football fans of an up-coming Big 12 football match up. Estimated Damage: $1,000.00. Discovered on: 10-24-09, at 7:37 AM.

REALLY A&M students/fans/fish co etc? You wasted your gas and your time to spray paint on the LBJ Fountain and surrounding areas?

Okay, whatever floats your boat, 12th man.

October is a great month to be in Austin, good football, lots of Halloween spirit, and a lot of different Halloween activities.

For those of you who like to be entertained while eating, Whole Foods and the Austin Music Foundation have teamed up to give you some good live music and some good healthy eating.

This Thursday, 10.29.09 from 6:30-7:30, Mostly Dead will be performing some songs from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. BEST PART IS THAT IT’S FREE!

I’m a big fan of garage sales and am pretty excited about the Austin City Wide Garage Sale at the Palmer Events Center this weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

I’ve always wondered what it would like to be a celebrity. Call me vain but I mean these people appear to live quite a life.

Well lucky for all of us who want to know what it’s like to be bother by the paparazzi, there’s a company located in Austin called Celeb 4 A Day. If you hire them, they’ll follow you around and pretend that you’re a celebrity.

SO if only for one day only, why not and indulge yourself and pretend that you’re Britney Spears or Brad Pitt. Go ahead and have a little fun.
